At MEI, we were delighted to be entrusted with the mechanical and electrical (MEP) works for the refurbishment of various spaces at York College. This project was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our expertise in upgrading educational facilities to meet the demands of modern teaching and learning environments. 

Our team worked closely with the college to ensure that every aspect of the MEP works aligned with the college's vision for a more dynamic and efficient space.

Our scope of work involved a complete overhaul of the electrical systems, which included the installation of new lighting designs that not only enhanced the aesthetic of the spaces but also improved energy efficiency. 

We carefully selected and implemented energy-efficient lighting solutions, ensuring optimal illumination for classrooms, corridors, and communal areas. Alongside the lighting upgrade, we carried out power upgrades, ensuring that the electrical infrastructure could support the modern technologies now integral to the college, including computers, projectors, and interactive learning tools.

In addition to the electrical works, we made significant modifications to the heating and ventilation systems throughout the campus. These improvements were designed to enhance both comfort and energy efficiency, ensuring that classrooms and communal spaces maintained an optimal temperature throughout the year, regardless of external weather conditions. By incorporating the latest energy-efficient HVAC solutions, we helped reduce the college’s environmental footprint while creating a comfortable learning environment for students and staff.

Another key element of the refurbishment was the installation of state-of-the-art interactive whiteboards in classrooms and learning spaces. These modern teaching tools facilitate interactive lessons and enhance the student experience. We also installed automated access doors, making the college more accessible and convenient for staff and students. To further enhance security and streamline entry, we incorporated a secure digilock system, allowing authorised personnel to easily access restricted areas while maintaining a high level of security.

By modernising the college’s infrastructure, MEI helped create a forward-thinking, learning environment that supports the college’s educational goals and enhances the experience for students and staff alike.
